Binance, one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges, has announced a collaboration with Portuguese player Cristiano Ronaldo to offer unique NFTs later this year.
Binance has announced a partnership with well-known footballer Cristiano Ronaldo to launch NFTs later this year.
As part of the multi-year agreement, the exchange will produce NFTs in collaboration with Ronaldo each year, which will then be sold only on the Binance NFT platform.
Binance plans to begin a global campaign through this collaboration to link Ronaldo fans with the world of Web3 and NFTs.
"Through this collaboration, Binance will launch a global campaign aimed at introducing Ronaldo's supporters to Web3 while also providing a compelling entry point into the realm of NFTs," according to the statement.
In relation to the aforementioned collaboration, Ronaldo added:
“My relationship with the fans is very important to me, so the idea of bringing unprecedented experiences and access through this NFT platform is something that I wanted to be a part of.”
The sports industry is witnessing an NFT revolution, with many sportsmen forming NFT alliances in order to engage with their fans on a more personal basis.
Another notable athlete, Lionel Messi, produced his own NFT collection, "Messiverse," last year in collaboration with BossLogic, an Australian-based digital artist.
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao said about developing an NFT collection with Cristiano Ronaldo:
“Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the world’s best footballers and has transcended sport to become an icon in multiple industries. He has amassed one of the world’s most dedicated fan bases through his authenticity, talent, and charity work… We are thrilled to provide his fans with exclusive engagement opportunities to connect with Ronaldo and own a piece of iconic sports history.”
