One of the most renowned watchmakers in the world, Breitling, has hopped on the cryptocurrency bandwagon and begun accepting digital currencies as a form of payment.
In fact, Breitling has partnered with BitPay, one of the biggest crypto payment service providers in the world, to enable users to buy its wristwatches and straps using bitcoin. BitPay announced the news on June 28.
According to the website of the watchmaker, BitPay accepts Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), DogeCoin (DOGE), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), and five stablecoins, including Binance USD (BUSD), Dai (DAI), Gemini Dollar (GUSD), USDP, and USD Coin (USDC) as payments.
Customers would thus be able to use these digital currencies to buy any watch listed on Breitling's website, where prices range from $3,300 for the Endurance Pro watch to $53,560 for the luxurious Premier B21 Chronograph Tourbillion 42 Bentley.
Accordingly, the latter was valued at over 2.5 BTC as of the time of publication. At that time, Bitcoin was trading at $20,797, up 0.33% on the day but down 3.32% over the preceding seven days, according to CoinMarketCap.
Recently, Tag Heuer has announced that all online transactions will now be made using cryptocurrency on its American website.
