Elon Musk is adding his voice to the growing demand from the Dogecoin community for McDonald's to begin accepting DOGE.
The billionaire stated in a tweet that he would eat a McDonald's Happy Meal on television if the fast-food restaurant chain started accepting DOGE.
Dogecoin supporters have been crying for McDonald's to begin accepting the leading memecoin. The request gained traction after the organization's official Twitter handle expressed interest in the community.
In response to the co-founder of the memecoin, Billy Markus, requesting a fry from them, McDonald's sent out a tweet of the Shiba Inu dog featured on Dogecoin's logo.
The DOGE community has been commenting on the post, claiming that McDonald's accepting DOGE would be a win-win situation for both parties.
What has McDonald's done in response?
McDonald's, on the other hand, has not stated whether it will accept DOGE but has stated that it is evaluating payment experiences.
They've also maintained a friendly relationship with the crypto community, recently inquiring how crypto accounts were faring – despite the drop.
The intention is probably to lighten things up as part of a running crypto community joke that if the crypto market crashes, market participants can always find work at a fast-food chain.
In addition, McDonald's is not new to cryptocurrencies and crypto payments. El Salvador's McDonald's restaurants accept Bitcoin because the cryptocurrency is legal tender in the Central American country.
McDonald's has recently launched an NFT collection of its signature sandwich, the McRib. It gave away 10 NFTs to customers to commemorate the sandwich's 40th anniversary.
