According to a recent story published by The Street, e-commerce behemoth eBay is on pace to provide support for cryptocurrency payments as soon as March.

In addition, CEO Jamie Iannone says that the new payment method is aimed at attracting younger customers:

"On March 10, we'll delve deeper into all of these topics, including payments, advertising, and our priority areas."

Moreover, numerous surveys show that millennials are the most crypto-friendly demographic, which explains eBay's planned crypto flip.

Despite dabbling in non-fungible tokens last May, the popular e-commerce platform has so far resisted completely embracing cryptocurrency.

Back in 2013, when the world's first cryptocurrency was still in its infancy, the groundbreaking internet startup, which was launched in September 1995, toyed with the concept of taking Bitcoin.

There was considerable anticipation that eBay may begin accepting cryptocurrency in 2019, but the corporation quickly debunked the claims.

Following significant speculative interest in the embryonic asset class, the online auction house eventually said that it was seriously contemplating allowing crypto payments.
