Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFTs project, announced that its Discord servers had been hacked, resulting in the theft of 200 ETH ($357,000) worth of NFTs from users.
A Twitter user with the handle @NFTherder, posted screenshots, implying that scammers may have carried out a phishing assault.
In addition, the team behind the BAYC NFTs collection also announced the incident that happened on Twitter saying, "We are still investigating, but if you were impacted, write us at firstname.lastname@example.org," adding a reminder that the initiative does not offer surprise mints or prizes.
Gordon Goner, co-founder of Yuga Labs, tweeted shortly after: "For web3 communities, Discord isn't working. We require a better platform that prioritizes security."
In April, the project's Instagram account was hacked, resulting in the theft of 91 NFTs valued at least $2.8 million from users. When the Instagram account was hacked, an update was posted claiming that there was a LAND airdrop and that people needed to connect their wallets to claim it.
In addition, due to an OpenSea UX problem early this year, many Bored Ape owners, as well as owners of other popular collections, saw their holdings sniped at prices far below market value.
