On June 21, Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot announced the sale of 200 new limited-edition watches, which will also be available for online purchase using selected cryptocurrencies via BitPay.
According to the company:
“Exclusively on our Hublot United States eBoutique, clients will be able to shop using select cryptocurrencies with BitPay.”
Indeed, the new Big Bang Unico Essential Grey will be sold exclusively on the watchmaker Hublot United States eBoutique, with the watch costing roughly 20,700 euro ($21,800), or little more than one entire Bitcoin at the current market price of the flagship digital currency.
Interestingly, the revelation comes after another premium Swiss wristwatch, TAG Heuer, said in May that it would accept bitcoin payments for all online transactions on its US website.
TAG Heuer announced a new crypto payment option in collaboration with BitPay, which would include 12 digital currencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, and five dollar-pegged stablecoins.
In addition, TAG Heuer has stated that the company's initial step into Web3 and the broader adoption of blockchain technology and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) will begin with the acceptance of cryptocurrency payments.
Furthermore, the watchmaker has jumped on the NFT bandwagon, developing a smartwatch feature that allows users to display their NFT collections.
