Miami’s Mayor to Take His Salary in Bitcoin, Making Him The First Politician in the US

The Mayor of Miami Francis Suarez doubled down on his crypto support as he announced he would receive his next salary in Bitcoin (BTC). As a result, he would become the first American politician to get paid in cryptocurrency.

For instance, Francis Suarez has shown support towards the cryptocurrency space. Notably, bitcoin — the largest crypto by market cap. Aside from being pro-crypto or holder himself, he often advocates the values of the leading digital asset, making him one of its most passionate enthusiasts.

On November 2, Miami’s mayor replied to Anthonio Pompliano, a crypto analyst tweet. Pomp tweeted, asking who is going to be the first American politician to accept their salary in Bitcoin, and the mayor replied,

"I’m going to take my next paycheck 100% in bitcoin…problem solved!"

In addition, mayor Francis Suarez tagged Mike Sarasti, the city’s director of innovation and tech – who is supposed to help in the initiative.

According to reports, the mayor’s yearly salary is around $187,500 worth about 3 BTC at press time.
