Shopify CEO flaunts his Twitter handle displaying Ethereum domain

The billionaire behind Shopify is showing off his Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domain name on Twitter.

Tobias Lütke, the German-Canadian billionaire behind e-commerce Shopify, is flaunting his ENS domain name as his Twitter handle. He also updated his profile picture to a CryptoPunk non-fungible token (NFT).

In addition, the entrepreneur purchased the ENS domain for 30 ETH worth roughly $122,000 on December 13.

Note that ENS facilitates the transactions process on the Ethereum blockchain by allowing everyone to book a ".eth" name. Many users of the Ethereum community have changed their Twitter handles to show their support for the company.

Aside from Lütke, Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of the popular platform Reddit also hopped on the trend in early 2021.

Other leaders and businesses too are also jumping on the bandwagon. Budweiser, one of America's recognizable beer brands, paid 30 ETH worth about $95,000 for the "Beer.eth" domain back in August and changed its Twitter profile name to reflect the purchase.

Lütke did not just get into the Ethereum trend overnight. According to reports, the billionaire German-Candian revealed his interest in the Etherum ecosystem back in April, asserting that he had been dabbling in smart contracts to understand the ERC20 token standard.
