Tencent to launch NFT avatars and virtual music rooms

Tencent announced on Monday that it has begun testing non-fungible token (NFT) avatars and the "virtual room" Music Zone on its QQ Music app.

These NFT PFP avatars are two-dimensional cartoon characters built on the Zhixin Chain, Tencent's blockchain.

QQ Music will also introduce the "Music Zone" virtual room function, in which users may invite friends' avatars to be guests in the room and listen to music together.

According to a post on Tencent's official QQ music account, Android phone users may already experience the PFP NFT feature and the virtual room as of Monday, ahead of formal sales beginning Wednesday morning.

Each PFP costs 0.88 yuan (US$ 0.13) and is restricted to 40,000 copies.
