The First NFT Flight Ticket Series from Air Europa is now available on Algorand

After a collaboration between Spain's Air Europa and the blockchain business TravelX, the first NFT airline tickets became available for purchase.

Air Europa, a renowned Spanish airline, has teamed up with blockchain company TravelX to provide the world's first batch of non-fungible token (NFT) airline tickets.

Users who purchase such memorabilia will be able to fly between Madrid and Miami on a special aircraft on November 29, 2022.

NFTickets, a component of TravelX's platform, will be available for purchase. The first auction took place on April 11 and will be repeated every two weeks.

The tickets, according to TravelX, function similarly to standard non-fungible tokens. Transactions are recorded on the blockchain when they are made. Holders of the collectibles will be given a flight ticket that corresponds to the items.

Buyers will be able to "hold a piece of travel industry history and participate in the first-ever blockchain-backed flight," according to Air Europa and its partner. On November 29, 2022, it will take off from Madrid and land in Miami.

This initiative, according to Carlos Betancourt, the artist who designed the artwork, is an experiment with the borders of art and technology.

Carlos Betancourt,

“The animated artwork is inspired by concepts of space, magical realms and travel experiences, as well as by the memories and feelings these experiences evoke.”

On Algorand's blockchain, non-fungible tokens are created. TravelX Co-Founder Facundo Diaz lauded the ecosystem for its environmentally friendly approach, noting that it is carbon-neutral.

"We'll take the finest of classical NFT and combine it with real-world expertise and application." This combines a superior flight ticket with a new type of collectible art work that users can simply manage and exchange from their blockchain wallet.

"We believe NFTickets will be the ideal mix of art, travel, and technology," said the executive.
