Walmart Is Looking for Digital Currency and Crypto Product Lead

Walmart, a U.S. retail giant, posted a job for a digital currency and crypto product lead on its website and careers platform LinkedIn.

Two years passed since Walmart applied for a license on a solid crypto token similar to Facebook’s Libra project. Today, the U.S. retail giant Walmart has posted a position for a crypto product lead.

According to the post, the new role for "Digital Currency and Cryptocurrency Product Lead" is to develop a digital currency strategy and product roadmap.

In addition, the position required a Bachelor’s Degree but MBA is preferred. Applicants should have more than 10 years of experience in product or program management and tech commercialization. And also, Candidates should have experience with the crypto ecosystem and related tech such as blockchain. However, the salary was not specified.

Let's note that this job announcement comes after rival business giant Amazon posted a job looking for a crypto and blockchain product lead.

Last year in December 2020, Walmart was onboarded to the blockchain-based bonuses platform StormX. Based on reports, StormX granted a 4% ‘cryptoback’ incentive for all Walmart shopping at that time.

Walmart has also tried blockchain tech for non-financial objectives, such as tracking drugs and food along the supply chain.
